"Back 2 Basics"
is the theme for this year's Out & About Norfolk Plein Air Paint Out!
"Focus will be on reflecting the city of Norfolk's wonderful spirit, back to the art-lovers of this city in a way that each and every viewer can find "something of what they love about Norfolk" in the paintings on display at the Wet Painting Sale."
The O&A Paint Out will be highly publicized, not only here in Norfolk - but statewide. We want this to be a "destination event" - for all those who love art, and have a "piece of Norfolk" in their heart.
Out & About is a juried paint out.
Artists who wish to participate, must digitally submit 3 recent plein air images, (or indicative in style and quality of your recent "from life" work), along with the completed application form and $35 application fee.
Our 2011 juror Bill White, has selected 37 final participants from the submissions received.

2011 ARTISTS! HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING
beginning Wed, Oct 19th.
Wednesday Evening - 5 to 7pm ARTIST CHECK-IN
Replacing the Breakfast of Previous O&A Paint Out tradition is the new & improved Check-In Supper.
Artists bring all their support materials to be stamped, and make their presence known! Have a light bite of dinner . . . chat with the other artists, and be on your way to rest up for a full day of painting on Thursday morning! No further check-in is required! Yea!
Thursday morning - 7:30 to 9am - O&A Staff will be available at Waterside - Suite 212 for those artists who were not able to check in on Wed night. Artists must have all materials validated with the O&A 2011 "stamp" before beginning to paint.
Friday - artists are on their own . . . start painting as early as you like - and stay out as long as you like! No check-ins necessary, unless you missed the previous check-in opportunities.
Saturday morning - 10 to 11am
All work should be delivered to Waterside. Each artist may submit 3 pieces. Work needs to be framed and wired properly. NO UNFRAMED GALLERY WRAPS.
No sawtooth hangers. Improperly wired work will not be accepted. Work should be labeled on back with your name, title of work, medium and selling price. Labels will be supplied in artist welcome packs.
Please price your work, allowing for 40% commission.

Artists, collectors, event sponsors and guests enjoy the array of interpretations, subjects and styles of the art created during the past two days. Eats&Drinks, Artfully Good Company, and Great Paintings offered for sale, will be in abundance. Award-winning paintings will be marked as such - and there will also be a short&sweet award presentation and comments by the juror. The evening will prove to be one of the Art Highlights of the city of Norfolk! Mark your calendars!

This event will be highly publicized and promoted. We are expecting a great turn-out, as "Out & About" is an anticipated and exciting autumn art event in Norfolk.
Saturday, October 22rd will be an art night that artists and art lovers will not want to miss!
